To celebrate the launch of Shuush this weekend we have be given 5 copies of Chilli Mint Music – Various Artists 1 on vinyl featuring tracks from Betoko, Joao Teixeira, Whim-ee and Luca Elle.
We’re giving five lucky winners the opportunity to win this and a pair of guestlist places to Shuush with three runners up winning a pair of guestlist places – all you have to do is email jim@conceptlondon.net and let us know which country Betoko originates from.
We caught up with Betoko himself for a quick fire Q&A session.
Lightbox: It’s the start of 2013, so first of all what’s your new year’s resolution?
This year I plan to smoke less, spend more time with my girlfriend and in the studio.
Lightbox: As someone who performs all over the globe, what do you enjoy about performing in London?
The crowds are amazing, always up for it and love to hear new music plus I also get to spend time with my girlfriend and my family.
Lightbox: As a resident of this city, what’s your favourite restaurant?
Roka is a fantastic restaurantanrt offering contemporary Japanese cuisine – it’s definitely definitely worth checking out.
Lightbox: 2012 was a big year for Deep House, how do you see this sound progressing in 2013?
There’s a lot of the old skool artists that are playing and supporting the “new producer records”, I see 2013 progressing with the ‘new wave’ of house music at 120bpm… slow, sexy and sweaty house sounds!
Lightbox: Finally what’s the plan for 2013 and what can we expect?
I’ve got three big releases line up – firstly a new release on Diynamic titled ‘Sky In Your Eyes’ as part of Neon Nights Group, this will be followed by a remix of Serge Deviant’s ‘You & Me’ on Ultra and a collaboration with Louie Fresco and Fritz of Atari & III which I’m very excited about!
Shuush takes place on Saturday 12th January featuring Betoko alongside Kolombo, Sharam Jey, Panda, The Beat Medics and Trees Lounge. More info / tickets click HERE
